Ownership & Management Information

1. Journal Ownership and Publisher

Oto Rhino Laryngologica Indonesiana (ORLI) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Indonesian Society of Otorhinolaryngologists – Head and Neck Surgeons (INDOS ORL HNS), as stated on the journal’s official About the Journal page. This ownership and publishing information is provided to help authors, readers, reviewers, and other stakeholders identify the organization responsible for publishing the journal.
In accordance with the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, developed jointly by COPE, DOAJ, OASPA, and WAME, journal ownership and management information should be clearly indicated on the journal website, and any affiliated society, institution, or sponsor should be identified with a link to its website where available.
The journal's ownership and publisher information must be presented accurately and must not mislead prospective authors, editors, reviewers, readers, or institutional partners about the identity or role of the publishing organization. This requirement follows the transparency principles concerning ownership and management in the COPE/DOAJ/OASPA/WAME Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, Section 10: Ownership and Management.

2. Management Structure and Responsibilities

ORLI's journal management is responsible for maintaining the administrative, editorial, technical, and publishing processes required for the journal's operation. The journal should publicly identify the relevant management roles and their responsibilities, including the publisher's representative, Editor-in-Chief, editorial board, editorial office, and other management personnel where applicable. This disclosure is consistent with the transparency and journal-management expectations described in the COPE Core Practices, particularly the guidance on journal management and editorial independence.
The publisher and journal management should ensure that the journal has a clearly described operational infrastructure, appropriate editorial and publishing procedures, and suitably trained personnel. The relevant principles are discussed in COPE's Core Practices, including Journal Management.
The names, institutional affiliations, and editorial responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief and editorial board members should be made available through the journal's official website. The joint Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing state that journals should identify their editorial or advisory bodies and provide members' full names and affiliations.

3. Editorial Independence

ORLI is committed to ensuring that editorial decisions are based on the scholarly quality, originality, validity, relevance, and ethical acceptability of submitted manuscripts. The journal's ownership or management structure must not be used to improperly influence editorial decisions for personal, institutional, commercial, or other non-scholarly interests. This commitment reflects the editorial-independence and journal-management principles described in the COPE Core Practices.
The publisher and journal management should respect the Editor-in-Chief's responsibility for editorial decisions within the journal's published policies and procedures. Any actual or potential conflict of interest involving the publisher, editors, reviewers, or other participants in the publication process should be handled transparently and in accordance with the journal's relevant policies. See the COPE guidance on conflicts of interest and competing interests.
The journal's ownership, management, and funding arrangements should support responsible scholarly publishing rather than determine the acceptance or rejection of an individual manuscript. The COPE/DOAJ/OASPA/WAME Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing emphasize that editorial decisions should be based on scholarly merit and that journal practices should be transparent.

4. Relationship Between the Publisher and the Editorial Team

The publisher provides the organizational framework for the journal's publication, while the editorial team manages manuscript assessment and editorial decisions in accordance with the journal's scope, peer-review procedures, and publication ethics policies. The specific division of responsibilities should be documented and communicated clearly so that authors and other stakeholders understand how the journal operates. This approach is consistent with the COPE Core Practices on Journal Management and Peer Review Processes.
Editorial appointments, changes in editorial leadership, and material changes to the journal's management structure should be handled through the publisher's established governance procedures. Where such changes affect the information presented to the public, the journal website should be updated to maintain accurate and transparent records. The transparency principles relevant to these disclosures are available in the COPE/DOAJ/OASPA/WAME Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.

5. Financial and Operational Transparency

ORLI publicly describes its revenue sources, including article processing charges (APCs) and support from the publisher, on its Revenue Source page. The journal states that these revenue streams are managed transparently and do not influence editorial decision-making.
Information about publication fees, funding, sponsorship, and other relevant financial arrangements should be presented clearly and consistently. The Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing require transparent information about journal business practices and publication costs, while the COPE guidance on conflicts of interest provides further direction for managing competing interests that could affect the publication process.
Financial support, sponsorship, or institutional affiliation must not be presented in a way that creates a misleading impression of editorial endorsement or guarantees publication. The journal should explain relevant funding and business arrangements in accordance with its published policies and the transparency principles outlined in the COPE/DOAJ/OASPA/WAME Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.

6. Accountability and Publication Ethics

The publisher and editorial team share responsibility for maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record through clearly defined policies and procedures. ORLI's publication ethics policies should address matters such as allegations of misconduct, authorship and contributorship, complaints and appeals, conflicts of interest, ethical oversight, peer review, intellectual property, and post-publication corrections. These subjects are covered in the COPE Core Practices.
The journal should provide a clear process for receiving and handling complaints about the journal, its editorial personnel, publisher, or management. Complaints should be assessed fairly, consistently, and without retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith. See the COPE guidance on complaints and appeals.
The journal should periodically review its ownership and management disclosures to ensure that the information remains accurate, accessible, and consistent with its actual governance arrangements. This practice supports the transparency objectives of the COPE/DOAJ/OASPA/WAME Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.
